The snow made a sudden comeback in the Midlands just after my parents arrived, so we couldn’t resist going on a little stroll with them around the Burton Dassett hills. The view definitely made up for our frozen fingers and toes, and it was the perfect opportunity to give my new lens* a proper try. I can’t wait to start shooting gigs with it this year, but for now I’m quite happy taking it out on chilly walks!
On Saturday night, a few of us braved the cold and the impending snow to gather at the Zephyr Lounge in Leamington Spa, and enjoy an evening of great music courtesy of the Folly Brothers, Speak, Brother and the Swaps. It was an end-of-year show for all three bands, which always makes it extra special!
It’s always special going to Birmingham for gigs, but last night at the Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath was simply out of this world! Such an incredible show from John Nicholas and Speak, Brother which left me singing to myself – probably loudly and badly, but luckily away from sensitive ears 😉 – on the drive home.
Husband-of-mine was busy working in the studio today so I’ve enjoyed a slow, quiet day at home reading, backing up photos, listening to JP Cooper’s album and repotting all the succulents that were used as centre pieces on our wedding day.
Last week I paid a little visit to my friend Charlotte who recently moved to Canterbury for her PhD. I’d never been to Kent before and we had a great time wandering around the town together. From crooked bookshops to beautiful parks with fairy trees, Canterbury is definitely one of the loveliest places I’ve seen in the UK so far!
